I would think that watching so many people walk around day after day would grow boring, after a time, though it is possible that this 'something' or 'someone' has highly unusual tastes.

That's why new people show up all the time.

That would still result in much of the same activities. The world dictates that we travel, and so we travel--the only difference for those who arrive is that they may choose to go through a forest or travel on the ferry to Pallet Town. As I said, it does not seem like a good way to relieve boredom.

Not everyone travels, though. People get to be breeders or trainers, both of which have very different functions. Essentially, people can go about this any way they want on top of that. What we have is an infinite way of playing this game. Different people add just another flavor.
